Egg Price today is the price of an egg on a given date of a month. It is very important to track egg rate daily as NECC changes the prices of eggs almost on daily basis.

Both wholesale and retail egg prices in Mumbai went up during the month of winter. The egg rate surged to INR 7 in retail market and the reason was lower egg production hit the egg supplies badly. 

It is estimated that Pune city consumes around 30 Lakh eggs per day, but the consumption increases during winters. As supply did not increase accordingly, the egg prices skyrocketed. The supply did not increase because the poultry farmers had reduced their flock size keeping in mind the previous years affected badly by the pandemic.

The prices of eggs in general is going through an upward trend from last few years, as people have increased their egg consumption. It is because eggs are a cheap source of animal protein and they are believed to boost immunity. Further, the input cost in terms of cost of feed and other raw materials has also increased.

As summers are about to start, the consumption of eggs is likely to decrease. This is expected to bring down egg rate in Pune.

However, what will exactly happen to the rates remains to be seen, as there are other factors, that also play an important part in determining the egg rate today in Pune.
